CAR ART / CRASH Curated by Iris Eichenberg, Artist-in-Residence and Head of Metalsmithing and Heather McGill, Artist-in-Residence and Head of Sculpture
Elaine L. Jacob Gallery at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI,

A group of ten (inter)national artists engage with the quintessential urban embodiment of speed, movement, modernity (and long-time lifeblood of the Motorcity): the automobile. This exhibition is part of the fifth annual conference of the Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present, “ASAP/5: The Arts of the City,” at Wayne State University. Featuring work by Sarah Coates (Metalsmithing ’14), Ted Noten, Richard Smith, and Academy alumni Corrie Baldauf (Fiber ’09), Amber Kempthorn (Sculpture ’08), Farid Rakun (Architecture ’13), Tré Reising (Sculpture ’13), and Adam Shirley (Metalsmithing ’10). The artists whose commissioned work constitutes the ASAP/5 Car Art/Crash show confront us in different and powerful ways with our profound investment in and obsession with (dissected) cars. For more information, click here. Eichenberg's work will also be on display at Ornamentum Gallery in Hudson, New York.

New Exhibition by Artist-in-Residence Iris Eichenberg and Stacy Jo Scott (Ceramics ’12) Receives Critical Acclaim

"Setting the Table," the new exhibition by Artist-in-Residence and Head of Metalsmithing, Iris Eichenberg, and CAA alum Stacy Jo Scott (Ceramics ’12) recently opened at Ferndale's Paul Kotula Projects and will run through May 11. The Detroit News says the collection of bowls and organic-looking objects is “blisteringly original work.” For the full store, click here.
