Cranbrook Mourns the Loss of Gil Silverman

This week, Cranbrook mourns the loss of Gilbert B. Silverman, a Life Governor of the Cranbrook Academy of Art and Art Museum. A steadfast supporter of the arts, Silverman served on the Academy Board for 27 years, from 1980-2007. He also served on boards and committees for the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Silverman was a Bloomfield Hills-based real estate executive, working as the former president of Holtzman & Silverman and founder and former president and chairman of Village Green Management Company.

The Academy sends its deepest condolences to Silverman’s wife Lila, daughters Marsha Brunelle and Wendy Silverman; sons Gilbert (Buzz), Eric and Paul Silverman; and his nine grandchildren.
