Midcentury design icon Harry Bertoia’s (late 1930’s) iconic wire chair is still turning heads in interior design decades after it debuted in 1952. Bertoia’s furniture has been in continuous production since 1953 through Knoll International.

Bertoia attended the Cranbrook Academy of Art at the start of World War II; metal was often in short supply and he crafted many jewelry pieces during his time on campus, which required less material.
