Wen-Ying Huang Featured in Series Exploring Japanese Shibori Tradition

Wen-Ying Huang (Fiber ’93) was featured in Conversations with Cloth, Series TWO, an online program presented by Slow Fiber Studios. Huang and other artists in the first episode illustrate the history of shibori in North America. Later episodes will follow the technique’s history in Africa, Asia, plus Central and South America. Huang’s work provides an example of technology being used in this long-standing tradition. She transforms her photographs with a digital jacquard loom, then uses shibori techniques to dye the tapestries.
