Jovencio de la Paz Interviewed by Interior Design

July 3rd, 2021

Oregon-based textile artist Jovencio de la Paz (Fiber ’12) describes their early experience with fiber and current practice in a recent interview with Interior Design Magazine. De la Paz’s unique weaving technique includes hacking TC2 software for digital weaving and embraces the occasional glitches of the process.

De la Paz also explores the history of weaving as a gendered art form, and how they’ve found a connection between weaving, new technology, abstraction, and queerness.

Jovencio de la Paz’s work is currently on view in With Eyes Opened: Cranbrook Academy of Art Since 1932 at Cranbrook Art Museum.
