Former Director of Cranbrook Academy of Art and Head of Fiber, Gerhardt Knodel’s latest exhibition has traveled to the Flint Institue of Art. Minglings: A Journey Across Time explores Knodel’s inspiration from a tapestry remnant from China’s Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). The works on view demonstrate how the past is never dead in the hands of the artist, offering the opportunity for rediscovery and reconsideration.
