Bomb Magazine’s Oral History Project featured Cranbrook Academy of Art alumnus McArthur Binion (Painting ’73). Binion’s friend and fellow artist Judy Pfaff explores his history, practice, and future plans.

Binion discusses his upcoming solo exhibitions and a plan to return to Detroit. Binion’s Modern Ancient Brown Foundation continues to support Detroit area artists of color with monthly stipends and studio spaces to expand their practice.

Binion and Pfaff met in New York and have known each other for more than four decades. The interview highlights their childhood experiences in Detroit and rich experiences in the New York City art scene in the 1970s and 1980s.
