Sylvain Malfroy-Camine (MFA Painting 2021) opens his first solo gallery exhibition at David Klein Gallery in Birmingham, Michigan on October 22, 2022. Scherzo features all-new, large-scale works by the artist featuring their signature colorful paintings with expressive, painterly brushstrokes.

Malfroy-Camine notes: “Scherzo is a kind of musical composition that also means ‘joke’ in Italian. In titling the show this way, I hope to imply music in the work shown, but also to lightly question the amusing notion of music’s relationship to painting, since paintings are notoriously silent.”

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 5 to 7pm ET.
