Lauren Levato Coyne Awarded Toni Beauchamp Prize in Critical Art Writing

Congratulations to Lauren Levato Coyne (MFA Painting 2020), winner of the 2022 Toni Beauchamp Prize in Critical Art Writing from Gulf Coast,  for their essay “Queer Elegies and Climate Mourning: Marc Swanson’s Memorial to Ice at the Dead Deer Disco”. Their essay will be printed in the upcoming Spring 2023 issue of Gulf Coast and is available to read online. Levato Coyne is a queer artist and writer living in North Adams, MA.

In its sixth year, the Toni Beauchamp Prize seeks to support young and mid-career art writers who combine scholarship and journalism, a unique voice, and literary excellence. The 2022 juror was Legacy Russell, executive director and chief curator of The Kitchen and author of “Glitch Feminism”.
