Congratulations to Cranbrook Academy of Art alum, Jason Schiedel (MFA Sculpture 1995), who was named one of Ceramic Monthly’s Emerging Artists of 2023 in their May issue. In his profile by Ceramics Monthly, Schiedel describes his mold-making and slip-casting process for creating his ceramic sculptures and how he considers color to structure feeling within his work.

Schiedel transitioned to ceramics as his main medium after many years of experimentation after graduating from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Of his two years of study here, Schiedel says, “If I learned anything at Cranbrook, it was the ability to learn from the process of working in the studio.”
