Cranbrook Alumni Receive Kresge Artist Awards

Congratulations to the Cranbrook Academy of Art alumni who were named 2023 Kresge Artist Fellows and Gilda Award recipients. Jessica Frelinghuysen (M.Arch 2006) was named one of 15 Kresge Artist Fellows in Visual Arts, and received a $25,000 monetary prize. Melissa Webb (MFA Fiber 2021) and Shanna Merola (MFA Photography 2011) were each named Gilda Award recipients in Visual Arts and each received a $5,000 prize. In addition to the no-strings-attached prize, all Kresge Artist Fellows and Gilda Award recipients are invited to participate in a series of tailored professional development experiences that include skill-building, networking, promotion, and coaching opportunities. This is the 15th year The Kresge Foundation has issued the awards, and this year’s recipients join a long list of Academy graduates and faculty who have been honored with these awards.
