Marianna Olague Opens New Solo Exhibition at David Klein Gallery
This weekend Cranbrook Academy of Art alumna Marianna Olague opens a new solo exhibition, People You Know, at David Klein Gallery’s Detroit location.
The exhibition will feature a new series of familial portraits. Olague’s paintings bear witness to her family and friends’ different roles as they adapt to milestones or challenges in their lives. While the portraits are personal to Olague, they represent universal archetypes: the mother, the artist, the lovers, the student, and more. All subjects share their Mexican-American identity, which colors their life experiences and cannot be altered.
People You Know will be on view from November 11 through December 23, 2023. An opening reception will take place on Saturday, November 11 from 5 to 8pm.
