Cranbrook Artists Featured in Detroit Biennial Exhibition for LGBTQ+ Art

Multiple Cranbrook Academy of Art alumni are featured in the second iteration of Might Real/Queer Detroit’s biennial exhibition focusing on LGBTQ+ artists. Over 180 artists and 800 works are featured across eleven galleries in the Detroit area. The 2024 title takes its name, I’ll Be Your Mirror: Reflections of the Contemporary Queer, from a Velvet Underground and Nico song.

The Academy alumni included in the exhibition are Meli Bandera (MFA Fiber 2024), Shudi Chen (MFA Fiber 2021), Nickie Gunning (MFA Ceramics 2021), Kira Keck (MFA Fiber 2022), Naama Levit (MFA Metalsmithing 2020), Annie Meyer (MFA 3D  Design 2021), Jeremy Noonan (MFA Fiber 2003), Merel Noorlander (MFA 4D Design 2022), Zena Segre (MFA Fiber 2023), Hilla Shapira (MFA Fiber 2020), and Mingdong Sun (MFA Sculpture 2020). I’ll Be Your Mirror: Reflections of the Contemporary Queer will run from Friday, May 31, to Sunday, June 30, in multiple galleries across Metro Detroit.
