A retrospective honoring the late Judith Rothschild (MFA Painting 1942) is on view at Moss Galleries in Portland, Oregon. Judith Rothschild Retrospective: Six Decades of Color and Abstraction explores six decades of Rothschild’s work including paintings, collages, and works on paper from the 1940s to 1990s.

Rothschild was a member of the Jane Street Gallery, New York’s first artist cooperative. Rothschild’s legacy extends beyond her impact on Abstraction, she was heavily involved in several artists’ organizations/galleries including the American Artists Association and Long Point Gallery.

Her work is included in numerous collections all over the US and internationally. A few of her works are also a part of the U.S. State Department’s Art in Embassies program. A temporary exhibition in 2006, Brasilia, featured Rothschilds works and those of celebrated abstract artists Jackson Pollock, Frank Stella, James Rosenquist, Louise Nevelson, Josef Albers, Richard Serra, among others.

Judith Rothschild Retrospective: Six Decades of Color and Abstraction is on view through August 14, 2024.
