Cranbrook Academy of Art alumna Poppy DeltaDawn (MFA Fiber 2016) will participate in the inaugural Kansas Triennial exhibition at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art, Kansas State University. On view from August 5, 2025, to May 31, 2026, the exhibition features contemporary artists rooted in Kansas, spanning diverse materials and artistic practices.
An opening reception will take place on September 11, 2025, and DeltaDawn will give an artist talk on March 12, 2026, offering insights into her creative process and conceptual framework.
DeltaDawn’s conceptual textile works—created through digital weaving and layering—investigate themes of bodily autonomy and identity with both visual and emotional depth. For the triennial, she will exhibit several works, including her largest to date, “Woven.”
Curator Kent Michael Smith emphasizes that the exhibition imposes no unifying theme. Instead, it honors each artist’s unique voice and urgency, inviting viewers to engage with timely artistic expressions from the region.
