Jayoung Yoon (MFA Fiber 2009) is currently an Artist-in-Residence at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in New York. During this six-month residency, August 20, 2025, through February 20, 2026, Yoon will work on her ongoing sculpture series The Fabric of Energy.
Yoon is known for her ethereal sculptures from human hair and other natural materials, including horsehair, feathers, and plant seed fiber. Through her intricate woven sculptures, she hint at the underlying interdependence of all beings, symbolizing the interwoven fabric of existence.
The MAD Artist Fellowship was introduced in 2016 to support the practice of emerging NYC-based artists from historically underrepresented communities.
Yoon’s MAD studio is open for public viewing every Saturday from 10:30am to 5:30pm, visitors can drop in at any time during the open hours.
