April 11th, 2026

Academy alumna Gabrielle Kupfer (MArch Architecture 2018) has been promoted to Associate at the New York–based architecture and interior design firm Spacesmith, as reported by CCR. Her advancement reflects the firm’s continued investment in emerging women leaders shaping its expanding portfolio of national and international projects.

Kupfer, who joined the firm in 2024, brings experience across retail, workplace, and diplomatic design. Her recent work includes serving as project manager for the Madison Avenue flagship of jewelry designer Jessica McCormack, as well as projects for Graff, multiple foreign missions to the United Nations in New York, and major workplace initiatives for clients including BlackRock. In a recent interview, Kupfer emphasized the importance of collaboration and interdisciplinary thinking in her approach, noting that strong design outcomes emerge from diverse teams and real-world constraints.

In addition to her project work, Kupfer leads Spacesmith’s Sustainability Committee, advancing material standards and environmental practices across the firm. She has also spoken about the role of mentorship and visibility in supporting women in architecture, advocating for more inclusive and representative leadership across the field.

Kupfer holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the California College of the Arts, a Master of Architecture from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Pratt Institute.
