Cranbrook Academy of Art Announces Director's Fellowship Program

January 10th, 2019

Bloomfield Hills, Mich., January 9, 2019 — Cranbrook Academy of Art announced today that it has launched a new fellowship program. The Cranbrook Academy of Art Director’s Fellowship program will award five full-tuition-supported fellowships for the 2019-20 academic year, with potential for renewal for a second year. For 2019-20, the fellowships will be awarded to students in the Architecture, Fiber, Metalsmithing, Photography and Print Media departments.

“We created this program to recognize creative excellence in art, design, and architecture,” said Susan R. Ewing, Director of Cranbrook Academy of Art. “Cranbrook is built upon a foundation of pioneering artists, designers, and architects, and it is the intention of this program to continue to fill our spaces with top talent that reflects the diverse nature of these fields.”

The Fellows will be nominated by the Academy’s Artists-in-Residence from the pool of accepted students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States. The final awards will be granted at the discretion of the Academy Director. Selection will be based on the strength of the application, and priority will be given to students who contribute to the Academy’s goal of increasing diversity.

Applications to Cranbrook Academy of Art are now being accepted through February 1, 2019. To apply, go here.
