Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Nov. 13, 2019 — Cranbrook Academy of Art announced today that it will extend its successful Director’s Fellowship Program for the 2020-2021 academic year, providing six new full-tuition fellowships to prospective MFA students in the 2D Design, 3D Design, 4D Design, Ceramics, Painting, and Sculpture departments.

Fellowships cover full tuition for the academic year with potential for renewal for a second year for students in good academic standing.

“We are pleased to be able to continue this successful program, which recognizes creative excellence,” said Susan R. Ewing, The Maxine and Stuart Frankel Director of Cranbrook Academy of Art. “The program helps open Cranbrook to extraordinary students, and their presence enriches the experience for everyone on campus. We look forward to filling our studios with top talent that reflects the diverse nature of our fields.”

The Fellows will be nominated by the Academy’s Artists-in-Residence from the pool of accepted students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States. The final awards will be granted at the discretion of the Academy Director. Selection will be based on the strength of the application, with priority given to students who contribute to the Academy’s goal of increasing diversity.

Last year, fellowships were awarded to MArch and MFA students in the Architecture, Fiber, Metalsmithing, Photography and Print Media departments.

The Academy also announced that it will lock tuition for the entire two-year stay for the student cohort matriculating across the 2020-2022 academic years.

Applications are now being accepted through February 1, 2020. Priority for fellowships will be given to those who apply by January 15. To apply, .visit our website.
