Current Cranbrook Academy of Art student, Eighteen Yuan (Metalsmithing ’23), was just named one of Art Jewelry Forum’s (AJF) Outstanding Students of 2022. Each year, AJF shares the work of one student from each of its member schools.
Yuan’s featured works are from a series created using neck ties provided by a woman whose husband recently passed away.
From Yuan’s artist statement: “Because of the irreversibility of time, human memory is the only evidence that the past has existed. Memory stores multiple sentiment feelings of being human; mourning, happiness, regret, joy, sadness, etc.
