Cranbrook Alumni and Former Artist-in-Residence Honored by American Craft Council
Congratulations to multiple Cranbrook Academy of Art artists who received awards from the American Craft Council this year.
Two alumni, Nick Cave (MFA Fiber 1989) and Anne Wilson (MFA Fiber 1972) were both awarded the Craft Council’s Gold Medal for Consummate Craftsmanship. The Gold Medal is awarded every two years for a lifetime of achievement and is the Craft Council’s highest honor. Awardees represent the extraordinary among a field of elite craftspeople.
Other Academy alumni and Artists-in-Residence ACC Gold medalists include Jun Kaneko, Gerhard Knodel, Frank Fenster, L.Brent Kington, Jack Lenor Larsen, Toshiko Takaezu, Marianne Strengell, Ed Rossbach, and Harvey Littleton.
Former Head of Fiber and Artist-in-Residence Mark Newport was named to the College of Fellows, which recognizes those who have made an outstanding contribution to crafts in the US.
