Painting Alumna Erica Mahinay Opens First UK Solo Exhibition at Josh Lilley

Congratulations to alumna Erica Mahinay (MFA Painting 2013) on her first solo exhibition in the UK, Engagements, now on view at Josh Lilley Gallery in London. Known for her luminous, highly physical paintings, Mahinay uses her own body as a tool—layering, scraping, and pouring pigment to create dynamic compositions full of movement and light. Each piece reveals an intuitive exploration of human experience, where meditative gestures meet spontaneous mark-making.

Engagements will be on view through June 8, 2025.

Mahinay, who lives and works in Los Angeles, has exhibited internationally, including recent group exhibitions at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles and CFHILL in Stockholm.
