Academy Alumnae Win 2025 Kresge Gilda Awards for Emerging Artists
Congratulations to alumnae Akea Brionne (MFA Photography 2023) and Taylor Childs (MFA Fiber 2024), who were awarded The Kresge Foundation’s 2025 Gilda Snowden Emerging Artist Awards in Visual Arts!
Gilda Awards are $5,000 prizes for emerging artists that honor Gilda Snowden’s legacy as a mentor and champion of emerging artists in metro Detroit. In addition to the prize, Gilda Award recipients receive access to legal and accounting support, promotional opportunities, and more. Fellows are also invited to participate in a film series highlighting Detroit artists.
This award recognizes artists early in their careers who are gaining momentum and who take creative risks in their chosen art form.
