Cranbrook Academy of Art Announces Fall 2016 Lecture Series
Visitors will consider the consequences of globalization on creative practice
Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Sept. 13 , 2016 – Cranbrook Academy of Art announces its [FALL] Lecture Series, bringing speakers from around the world to campus to share insights and engage in conversations with Academy students and the general public. As an institution, the Academy is committed to emphasizing current trends in the field of contemporary art, design and architecture. This year, the Academy has asked its visitors to consider the consequences of globalization on creative practice and social engagement – from issues of cultural homogenization to the politicized body to neo-liberalism – and question how pressure for global cultures and multiple identities fuels the communication of ideas.

The Academy will also welcome visitors from across the country to explore and discuss contemporary creative practices while supporting innovative inquiry from the vantage point of artists, critics, and scholars.

All lectures are held in Cranbrook Art Museum’s deSalle Auditorium and are free to ArtMembers and students with identification, and included with Museum admission for the general public. Cranbrook Art Museum is located at 39221 Woodward Ave., Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
