Schedule of Events

  • 1pm: Introduction
  • 1:15–1:45pm: Curator Talk – Kat Goffnett, Assistant Curator of Collections at Cranbrook Art Museum and curator of the Toth exhibition, will discuss Carl Toth’s practice and its evolution over the years from the early, hand-colored collages to his experimental works with the SX-70 camera, and eventually, the Xerox machine.
  • 2–3:30pm: Panel Discussion – Moderated by Chris Fraser, current Photography Artist-in-Residence at Cranbrook Academy of Art, Patrick Kelley (MFA Photography 1995), Andrea Eis (MFA Photography 1982), and Kyohei Abe (MFA Photography 2002), the discussion will explore the deeper connective tissue underlying Toth’s practice and how it connects to the shifting landscape of photography across the last decades of the 20th century.
  • 3:45-5pm: Toast + Reception – A champagne toast in honor of Carl Toth will close the talk, and be followed by a reception until 5pm.
