Current Print Media student, Rashaun Rucker, opened his first solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) earlier this month. Rashaun Rucker: Relief From the Heat features his ruminations on intergenerational identity and community sustained within the Black Church where he was born and raised in the America South. Now Detroit-based, Rucker is nationally recognized for his printmaking and draftsman work, and Relief From the Heat marks a return to his roots as a photojournalist, which initially brought him to the Midwest via a job at the Detroit Free Press.
Rashaun Rucker: Relief From the Heat is open through March 25, 2023.
Rashaun Rucker is a current Gilbert Fellow, pursuing his Master of Fine Arts at Cranbrook Academy of Art.
