Jova Lynne Makes a Splash at NADA New York with Detroit's Matéria Gallery
Artist and Curator Jova Lynne’s (MFA Photography 2017) recent solo show with Matéria Gallery at New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) New York was called a “standout” by The New York Times and “buzzworthy” by Galerie.
Lynne’s exhibition, Mitosis, features works of the titular series based on her artistic interpretation of the biological process of mitosis, where a single cell divides to form two identical daughter cells. The photographs in the exhibition, “daughters demonstrate the Black woman as god, creating intricate networks of human existence.”
Lynne is also the Inaugural Artistic Director of The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD).
