Demario Dotson Receives 2024 Knight New Work Award
Demario Dotson (MFA Print Media 2021) is among the Knight Foundation’s 2024 Knight New Work awardees in Detroit. This year, the foundation awarded a total of $275,000 to five Detroit-based artists and arts organizations who utilize technology in their practices to enhance the way art is created, shared, and experienced.
Dotson will create an immersive multimedia installation experience, Error Fo’ o’ Fo, with 3D animation and original music about Black and queer southern heroes.
Head of 4D/Interaction Design, Carla Diana (MFA 3D Design 2000), and Simon Anton (MFA 3D Design 2020) were among the 2023 Knight New Work awardees whose projects will open this spring. Anton’s Plastic Future Plastic Past exhibition opens April 17, 2025, at M Contemporary Art Gallery. Diana’s MOBILITY TOWN – Out of Our Cars and Into the World exhibition opens May 9, 2025, at Michigan Central New Lab.
