Elective Study
Electives provide a formal affiliation with another program to broaden the feedback and discourse around a student’s practice. Typically, a program will have one to four elective students joining each semester, although some programs allow for more.
Students who choose to join another program as an elective are responsible for all activities in their own program, as well as for various activities in the elective studio. In essence, this provides the experience of working with more than one Artist-in-Residence, by participating in critiques, seminars, discussions, and events of other programs.
Students may take an elective in one program at a time for one semester or longer, depending on availability. Electives are arranged through the Registrar’s office and require the permission of both the student’s primary Artist-in-Residence and the Artist-in-Residence in the elective studio.
