Sculpture alumni and Cranbrook Couple, Jen Catron and Paul Outlaw’s summer installation Hot Dog in the City in Times Square was named one of the Best Public Art projects of 2024 according to curators in Artsy.

Hot Dog in the City was a program by Times Square Arts, the public art arm of the Times Square Alliance, that collaborates with artists and institutions to engage with this iconic urban location.

Featuring a 65-foot-long animatronic hot dog sculpture shooting confetti into the air every day at noon, the installation was also an anchor for talks, performances, and debates. Some of the events included Condiment Wars: A Wrestling Match featuring EWA and Choke Hole, The Hottest Dog Show: A Canine Beauty Pageant with AKC Museum of the Dog, and a hot dog eating contest with Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs and Major League Eating.
