MOCAD Names Cranbrook Photography Alumna Jova Lynne Inaugural Artistic Director

Jova Lynne (MFA Photography 2017) has been named the Inaugural Artistic Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD). Lynne has a long history with MOCAD, she joined the organization in 2017 as a Ford Foundation curatorial fellow, and in 2019, she became the Susanne Feld Hillberry senior curator.
Lynne assumed her new role on April 3, 2023. She will be co-leading the museum alongside COO, Marie Madison-Patton. Lynne will lead MOCAD’s curatorial team to develop the museum’s artistic vision, exhibition schedule, and development activities. During her time at MOCAD, she curated Nep Dishu: Paradox of Harmonics; 2+2=8:Thirty Years Heidelberg, and Dual Vision.
“Detroit is a city that is close to my heart and has played an integral role in my growth as a curator and artist,” says Lynne.
