Photography Alumna Akea Brionne Among Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2024

Congratulations to Akea Brionne (MFA Photography 2023), who was recently named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in 2024 in the Art & Culture category.

Brionne’s practice is centered on lens-based media and textiles, utilizing images sourced from her family’s archive and more recently, from historical movements in painting.

Brionne recently opened a new solo exhibition, Trying to Remember, at Library Street Collective in Detroit, MI that will be on view through January 6, 2024.

Her work is also on view at the California African American Museum (CAAM) in their exhibition, A Movement in Every Direction: Legacies of the Great Migration, which was named one of The New York Times’ Best Exhibitions of 2022 when it was on view at The Mississippi Museum of Art. CAAM’s exhibition is open through March 3, 2024.
