Cranbrook Academy of Art’s intense artist community gives you the support to be vulnerable, space to take risks, and the spark to manifest your vision for a lifelong creative practice. Study here is predicated on the original vision of Eliel Saarinen, that all Academy students are artists and that creative arts cannot be “taught”.
Your two years of full-time at the Academy are unlike those at any other program in the country. Students work hard in the studio to transform their practice – not towards a particular credit, grade, or assignment. Your Artist-in-Residence is your mentor and resource, facilitating an open exchange of ideas and work while epitomizing the life of a professional working artist.
